Plantation of sacred trees |

(i) Shami plant: Prosopis cineraria (Shami vruksh) tree plantation was organised by MAESA foundation in association with Yashwant Samajik Pratistan and Shaneshwar Devasthan Trust Shani-Shingnapur on 1st March 2022 on the occasion of Mahashivratri. This plant is dedicated to God Shanidev and people worship it every day as a Shani plant. Total 8 saplings of Shami were planted as Shamivan on the left bankside of Panas river near Shani Mandir at Shanishingnapur Tal. Newasa. Mr. Bhagvat Bankar (President of the Trust), Dr. Shivaji Darandale (Former President of Trust) all the trustees, Dr. Shankar Laware (Principal, Arts, Commerce and Science College), Dr. Sachin Punekar (President Biospheres and Environment Scientist) and volunteers were present for the program. Dr. Sachin Punekar narrated importance of trees in environment and also discussed the medicinal, ecological and divine importance of Shami. Total 75 participants including the Members of Shaneshwar Devasthan Trust, Members of Yaswant SamajiK Pratisthan, Villagers, MAESA Volunteers and college staff as well as students attended the program. Similarly, along with Shami plant (ii) Bel tree: Agel marmelos (bel vruksh) and (iii) Ajan vruksh were planted on the front right side of Mahadev temple at More Chinchore. Trust members, Villagers of More Chinchore and Volunteers of MAESA participated in this program. Dr. Sachin Punekar discussed the importance of these plants and also guided participants on conservation of indigenous plant and their role is ecology and environment.
