Panel Discussion: How to Sensitise Rural Youth Towards Environment and Sustainable Development. |

A panel discussion was organised on 2nd April 2022 at Hotel Shreyas Apte Road, Pune to discuss various issues and plans as per stated mission and objectives of MAESA foundation. Dr. Sachin Punekar, Dr. Ravindra Jaybhaye, Dr. Mahesh Shindhikar, Rtn, Satish Khade, Dr. Pramod Kambale, Dr. Pradnya Kalekar, Dr. Pranay Abhang, Ms. Vidula Raul, Suraj Kapale, Ashis Arbale were called for the discussion. Chaitali Kshirsagar gave presentation on the vision, Mission and objectives of MAESA Foundation. She also elaborated on the activities conducted duri ng the year 2021-22. Satish Khade discussed on water issues and opportunities to carryout work on water purification and conservation. He also narrated that school children must be given some project to work and aware them about simple water purification m ethods. Dr. Sachin Punekar emphasized on conservation of plants and propagation of rare and sacred plants. He distributed the seeds of Suvarna pimple (Ficus Sp.) on the occasion. Dr. Ravindra Jaybhaye appreciated the work carried out by MAESA and gave str ess on how to engage youth (college and university students) in conservation activities and management of waste in towns and urban areas. Dr. Mahesh Shindikar focused on rural youth awareness and different strategies on how to train youth as green warriors Dr. Pradnya Kalekar discussed on volunteer training and opportunities for internships. Dr. Pramod Kamble talked about various models of restoration of degraded soils and water bodies. Dr. Shankar Laware gave emphasis on designing short-term courses and programmes to train students and covert them environment sensible youth; he also discussed on Institution’s Biodiversity Register and Green School Incubation project.
